As chairman and CEO of Barings LLC, Thomas Finke leads a global investment management company that manages more than $212 billion in institutional funds spanning the globe. He had been with the company Babson Capital Management since 2002, when Babson acquired First Union Institutional Debt Management from Wachovia Corporation. Thomas Finke had cofounded First Union, a $3.6 billion high-yield loan management firm, in 1998.
From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Finke's responsibilities extended beyond Barings to include a position with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company as chief investment officer and executive vice president. He currently serves in executive leadership capacities with two wholly owned Barings subsidiaries: Wood Creek Capital Management, LLC, and Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, LLC. He also sits on the board of the Structured Finance Industry Group.
Thomas Finke completed his undergraduate degree in commerce at the University of Virginia and earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. His early career experience included high-yield and loan syndication positions with Mellon Bank and First Union Capital Markets.
